Biotechnology
Fluor designed and constructed the world's first biotech manufacturing facility for Genentech back in 1982. Animal Health

Pharmaceuticals
Fluor’s experienced teams ensure optimization of clients' critical process steps involving reaction, purification, extraction, crystallization, separation/filtration and drying. Our technical expertise in process design provides innovative solutions to address batch feed systems for solids or liquids, reactor design, product purification, extraction and computer resources. We maintain steady-state process simulators that evaluate continuous processes such as solvent recovery systems that employ high-vacuum distillation.
Since bulk pharmaceutical plants are subject to CGMP and regulatory requirements, we provide a project organization and execution approach that ensures FDA, EU and SFDA regulations are met as required and that completed facilities are rapidly commissioned and qualified.
Project experience includes pilot plants, greenfield, upgrades, retrofits, expansions and decommissioning projects.

Bayer Cell Culture Technology Center

Fluor is providing a single point of responsibility for engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, qualification and validation for Bayer's first-of-a-kind cell culture technology center in Berkeley, California. The state-of-the-art single-use technology (SUT) biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing facility will produce oncology, cardiology and other therapeutics.
Fluor's innovative plant layout and modularized construction solution will allow Bayer's strategically important facility to be designed and built with capital efficiency and a focus on optimizing the project's schedule.
